Rating the Ratings: There's a new lowest-rated season in Dancing history. The show started down 22% year-to-year on premiere night and basically stayed in that general area for the rest of the year, finishing down 24% on Monday overall, down 19% on Tuesday overall and down 23% for the finale. Those numbers are pretty ugly; in fact, the 24% Monday drop is the biggest ever for a single Dancing night. So why is it far too early to write off this show? Because this show's been down this road before and recovered; the fall 2009 season was another stinker. Then the spring 2010 season premiered with a whooping 6.4 demo, the show's largest rating in over two years. NBC should have a more legitimate musical competition threat this midseason, though, so casting will be key. Grade: D.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Dancing with the Stars.
