Let's take a look at the 2010-11 season (the tenth overall) of Smallville on the CW.
2010-11 adults 18-49 low/average/high: 0.8/1.07/1.3
Rating the Ratings: The move to Friday in 2009-10 brought a pretty alarming 37% drop to the show's 18-49 ratings, but the announced final season in 2010-11 recouped at least a little bit of that drop. The final season rose 6%, just about on par with the small final season gains for the announced last seasons of shows like Lost and ER. The 1.3 demo for the show's two-hour series finale on 5/13/11 brought a huge spike from the last few episodes, but it'd actually achieved a 1.3 a few other times this season. Though I think the show was a little disappointing in taking such a big drop in its first Friday season, it ultimately leaves CW Fridays better than it found them, and we'll see if Nikita can hold a candle to these ratings next season. Grade: B+.
